Lady Gaga's Harper's Bazaar Cover Is 'A Big Deal'

Fashion photographers Inez & Vinoodh say stripped-down photo shows 'the old soul that she is.'

Lady Gaga appears barefaced on the latest cover of Harper's Bazaar. The cover is simply a close-up of her face: no makeup, wigs, masks or high-end couture. For a star who's frequently adorned elaborately, the simplicity of the look was so drastic that it made headlines.

Fans might be surprised to learn the cover shot was taken during a hectic video shoot in Nebraska, where Gaga was not only shooting her official "You and I" clip, but also several Inez & Vinoodh-directed fashion films.

The pair, who shot the Harper's cover, told MTV News the photo truly exposes Gaga as the person she is. "She's so beautiful in it. It's her emotion and her expression, and you can just see the old soul that she is, the pure happiness," Inez explained. "She's a very special human being that is all about giving. I think that's what's great with that cover: It's so out; it's so talking to the people. That's her most incredible quality: radiating that happiness that she has, and you really see it."

Over the course of her career, Gaga has had many extreme looks on the cover of countless magazines, and it seems that this stripped-down look was the only natural progression for her. The duo, who also shot her three-headed V Magazine cover, explained that this cover is "her purely; seeing her how she is inside."

So, how did the cover come to be? Inez explained, "I think it was Stephen Gan, the art director of Harper's Bazaar, that came to us and said, 'I would love to have a shoot with Gaga where she's really bare, where it's really her,' because he knows her very well; they're great friends. He feels the same way that we do: She is so beautiful, but because of all the stuff around, you don't get the chance to see really the gorgeousness and the person inside in that part of her. For Harper's Bazaar, I think it's a big deal to have a black-and-white cover to begin with, and it's great."

It was an idea that Gaga jumped on quite enthusiastically. "She's at a point in life too where she's very confident and ... everything's going so well and enjoying so much, it's really the right timing too to bare herself like that," the pair added.

Fired 'Real Housewives of NYC' Already Replaced?

Fired 'Real Housewives of NYC' Already Replaced?

They're rich, they're fashionable, they're New Yorkers -- but are they the new Real Housewives of New York City? Following the news that Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon and Cindy Barshop have been fired from the Bravo series, People reports that three powerful women have already been selected to take their place. Who are these ladies, and how do they stack up against remaining cast members Ramona Singer, LuAnn DeLesseps and Sonja Morgan?

The first name on the list is Carole Radziwill, a former ABC News producer whose late husband was the son of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' sister. (That makes him JFK's nephew, and her a Kennedy by marriage.) She's the author of the best-selling memoir What Remains, for which she went on an extensive media tour -- meaning she has plenty of TV experience. She also writes a monthly Glamour column called "Lunch Date," in which she interviews the rich and famous. Basically, Bravo won the lottery if they got her!

Next up is Heather Thomson (pictured in the inset above) a fashion designer who has helped Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Lopez and Sean "Diddy" Combs launch their clothing lines. A married mother of two, she created a successful shapewear line called Yummie Tummy for her own post-pregnancy body.

Last but not least is Aviva Drescher, a philanthropist and "Wall Street wife" with three children. All three new cast members fit the rumored new direction of the show: more money, more prestige and generally more like the California Housewives.

"They want rich, rich women, like Adrienne Maloof and Camille Grammer, dripping in glamour and $10 million penthouses," a source told the New York Post this past spring. "And they don't want to fake it."

Even so, that doesn't necessarily explain why they fired Zarin, Bensimon, McCord and Barshop, who all seem to be doing pretty well for themselves. (Morgan, meanwhile, filed for bankruptcy last fall.) Here's one possible explanation: It's Ramona Singer's doing. According to Us Weekly, the Pinot Grigio-loving jewelry designer suggested the new cast members, in an effort to get Zarin kicked off the show.

"(Singer) came to Bravo with a few pals she thought would make good additions," says the magazine's insider. "Bravo decided to go with the new girls and not Jill, so Ramona basically ran her off the show."

Singer has denied the story, saying she doesn't have the power to make casting decisions. But Cindy Barshop says she believes that show's infighting had a lot to do with the casting changes.

"Following the reunion it was clear that the women genuinely didn't like each other anymore," she told ABC News.

Zarin, however, says that the catfights were all just part of the game.

"There's no question there was fighting going on," she told Good Morning America. "But I believe the format of the show encourages that. And even if someone doesn't say to you to have a fight or whatever, you feel like you're supposed to."

Did Jill take the need for drama too far? Some people think she's out because she made more enemies than friends. "Jill caused a lot of problems," another insider tells Us. "Her castmates were upset with her, since she'd tweet all these negative things. Karma's a bitch."

Bravo has yet to confirm any new cast members.

Just after news hit that Justin Bieber had been involved in a minor car accident, the teen pop star, his manager and his producer began releasing details about his forthcoming Christmas album, including a possible Taylor Swift collaboration.

In a Twitter conversation with his manager, Scooter Braun, the pair revealed more info about the album, even sharing that it won't contain the holiday standards fans might expect. "This Christmas album is amazing. Might be the best album yet," Scooter Braun wrote on the social networking site. "All originals ... soon 2 b classics. every1 i play it 4 is blown away. #excited."

The 17-year-old superstar then shared, "@scooterbraun yeah we are going hard for Christmas!! #mistletoe." He later revealed that he had been recording tracks with some of his pals. "Had a great studio session with my big bro @seankingston and the talented @jonathanrotem #GOODMUSIC."

Producer Kuk Harrell (Rihanna, Katy Perry) has also been tweeting about hitting the studio with the singer and revealed another collaboration. "Wow!! Got to see @justinbieber & @taylorswift13 write a song together last night!!" he shared last week. "SMASH!!!! SMASH!!! SMASH!!! Let's do it again y'all!!!" Bieber hit the stage with Swift during one of her shows in Los Angeles last week.

Perhaps as a hint of what is to come, Bieber also retweeted a message from Braun in which Braun said, "Goin 2 bed listening 2 this new xmas album bieber is coming with. really #classic. original xmas tunes that r legit hit records. #greatmusic."

Bieber has been working hard on new music, both holiday-themed and other. When MTV News caught up with him earlier this summer, he wanted his fans to know that anything is possible on his next album. "[I'm] writing about how I feel and producing. I've been producing on my laptop and on my computer," he said. "I've been really into it and, hopefully, this next album will be huge."

He added, "I've done a lot on my acoustic guitar, so it's gonna have that vibe," he explained. "I'm not gonna really limit myself. I think music is music, and genre — I mean, I know there's country music, there's rock music, but my music is different. My voice is not meant for any style. I just want to make music."

Just two days after taking home a Moonman at the VMAs, Justin Bieber chalked up another young pop star rite of passage: his first paparazzi-witnessed fender bender.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Bieber was in a minor auto accident on Tuesday in the San Fernando Valley, caused by a Honda Civic that collided with his black Ferrari. "No one was injured and there was no damage to either vehicle," the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.   Of course, when LAPD officers rolled up, they were the second ones to arrive on the scene, trailing a horde of photographers who were eagerly snapping away at the 17-year-old singer, who was driving the car. The accident reportedly occurred in an underground parking structure, when the Civic driver attempted to drive around Bieber's luxury ride and its front side clipped the left rear side of the "Baby" singer's car, according to E! Online.

Check out backstage photos of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez at the VMAs.

There was an unidentified passenger in the car believed to be Bieber's assistant. No police report was taken, as there was no visible damage to either car.

The crash came less than 48 hours after Bieber scooped up the Best Male Video award at the VMAs for his "U Smile" video, and surprised viewers by showing up to the big show toting his snake ("Johnson"), not to mention planting a kiss on the cheek of his lady love, VMA pre-show host Selena Gomez.

The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards have wrapped, but the real action is just getting started! Stick with MTV News for winners, fashion pics, video and behind-the-scenes stories about everything that went down. Visit VMA.MTV.com for the latest.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Has Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Sarah Michelle Gellar Has Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Sarah Michelle Gellar was a model of kick-butt confidence for seven years on Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- but behind the scenes, she's much more self-conscious. In a new interview with Health magazine, the star of the new CW show Ringer confesses that she suffers from deep insecurity about her body.

"I totally have body dysmorphic disorder," says Gellar, 34. "I think most women do."

Body dysmorphic disorder, for those of you who don't know, is when the body you see in the mirror is drastically different from the body everyone else sees. Gellar even admits that she reflexively avoids mirrors.

"I'm surrounded by them all the time -- you sit in hair and makeup -- so I guess I just have this mechanism where I tune it out," she says. "So every once in a while, I'll look and I'll be like, 'Wait, that's what I look like?'"

Still, she says, she's learning to be easier on herself. Gellar, who has 2-year-old daughter Charlotte with husband Freddie Prinze Jr., says that being a mom has helped her to obsess less over her looks ("your priorities are different"). She even believes that she was too thin for a while on Buffy.

"I'm not as critical as I used to be about my body," says the actress. "And it's also funny, too, how women perceive women, and how men perceive women. Because a woman will look at the skinniest person and think that's the most attractive, and a man will not think that's attractive at all!"

The athletic actress says she's grateful that more women these days want to look strong and lean instead of emaciated -- and she uses sisters Pippa and Kate Middleton to make the distinction. "It seems like people are worried that (Catherine's) stressed. I feel like 10 years ago, it would have been like, 'Oh, she looks incredible.' Whereas you look at her sister, who has such a fabulously athletic body -- I mean, a real athlete's body -- and I think there's this movement now, where more women, finally, want to look like that."

But even if she doesn't have her ideal body, Gellar is not about to make herself crazy -- especially for the paparazzi. When asked if she worries about what she wears around town, she exclaims, "If you've seen some of my paparazzi pictures recently, you would knoooooow I don't!" The business of being a star, she says, is no longer her first priority.

"I have to remember that I like my job, but it's work, and it's not my life," she notes. "My life is my family. And I think that's the best thing. You know, take a minute. It's not the end of the world."
